GET TO KNOW JAMES

Democratic primary voters in Alamosa, Archuleta, Conejos, Costilla, Delta, Dolores, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Jackson, Lake, La Plata, Mesa, Mineral, Moffat, Montrose, Ouray, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, Rio Grande, Routt, Saguache, San Juan and San Miguel counties, need to read that Democrat James Iacino is a Colorado business leader who has put our progressive beliefs into action.

James understands what it’s like to work for a living because he started out working the midnight shift on the loading docks on the loading docks of the Colorado business that his grandfather founded in 1918.

That’s why, after James worked his way up to become CEO, he earned the support of local unions by paying his employees’ wages and benefits well above market standards, even when it meant his company had smaller profits. Now, during this crisis, James has cut his own pay by 80 percent to keep more workers on – and pay essential workers on the frontlines more.

James has also implemented industry-leading sustainability practices to help protect Colorado’s natural resources, which earned his company the award for Green Businesses of the year.

Democratic leaders like Senator Ken Salazar and A.G. Phil Weiser have endorsed James because he has the experience to beat Scott Tipton, stand up to Donald Trump and the corporate special interests, and fight to combat climate change and rebuild an economy that puts working Coloradans and the environment first.

---

James believes that Black Lives Matter, period. We all, especially elected leaders, have a moral obligation to fight the institutional inequity, systemic racism, and outright hostility and violence that Black Americans face every single day.

In Congress, James will listen to community leaders and work as an ally to reform our criminal justice system and stop police brutality. He supports evidence-based policies such as ending qualified immunity, demilitarizing police departments, banning chokeholds, and increasing oversight and accountability requirements for police at all levels.

Proof Points

• Strong Democrats are standing with James because they know he can win. He’s endorsed by Ken Salazar, former Secretary of the Interior and U.S. Senator; Phil Weiser, Attorney General; John Salazar, former U.S. Congressman; Gail Schwartz, former State Senator, and 2016 CO-3 Democratic nominee and 30 other current and former officials from throughout the 3rd District and Colorado.

• “As a progressive businessman who has advocated for unions and environmental sustainability, James Iacino is the Democrat who can beat Congressman Tipton.”

- Ken Salazar, Former Secretary of the Interior

• James is a leader. He’s doing what’s right and what other businesses should do in times of crisis. He cut his own pay by 80 percent, cut the pay of all executives, and zeroed out the marketing budget to keep workers on. He also increased wages for the essential workers on the front line making sure grocery stores across Colorado have fish to sell. And to keep workers safe, he implemented workplace safety precautions, including temperature checks and full PPE gear, to ensure we all remain healthy and can weather this storm together

• Seattle Fish was named Green Business of the Year because of its industry-leading sustainability practices. In Congress, James will fight to combat climate change, move our country to clean energy like wind and solar, and protect Colorado’s air, water, public lands, and wild places.

• Progressive practices are how Seattle Fish has succeeded for generations and it’s how it will recover after the pandemic. James believes the same is needed for the country, and he supports strong government action to help hard-working Coloradans make it through this crisis and then to rebuild an economy that works for regular people and relies on the clean energy of the future, not the fossil fuels of the past.

• Seattle Fish is proud to be union-represented. In Congress, James will continue to fight for workers’ rights, higher wages, and benefits like paid sick and family leave for all Coloradans.
