Former U.S. Ambassador Dan Baer Endorses James Iacino in 3rd Congressional District Democratic Primary

June 1st, Montrose, CO. Today, Dan Baer, former U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, announced his endorsement of James Iacino in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District Democratic primary. Having served in President Barack Obama’s Department of State, Baer has been a leader on US foreign policy over the past 16 years.

Dan Baer also served under Governor Hickenlooper, serving as the Executive Director of the Department of Higher Education. A leader and advocate in the LGBTQ+ community, Baer has been a critical member of a new generation of Coloradan leaders, fighting to make sure that everyone has a place at the table. In a statement Dan Baer said: 


“One of the most inspiring parts of the 2018 election was seeing the new generation of Democrats who flipped Republican-held seats and brought fresh energy, ideas and experiences to Congress. The lesson: when we put forward winning candidates, we win, and Colorado and America win too! I’m proud to endorse James and look forward to seeing him in Congress.”


Iacino continues to build support from officials throughout the state of Colorado. Dan Baer has added his name with over 30 current and former elected officials, including Secretary Ken Salazar, Attorney General Phil Weiser, Congressman John Salazar, and State Senator Gail Schwartz. Responding to the news, James Iacino stated:


“Dan Baer’s work in international relations and diplomacy is a model for how we should approach government service and seek collaborative solutions to global issues. He brings an incredible energy to everything he does. I am honored to have earned his support in the Democratic primary election and am grateful for his counsel as an experienced leader.”
