Our public lands and wild places are not only central to our Colorado way of life, they’re critical drivers of the economy in Western and Southern Colorado. With this vote, D.C. politician Scott Tipton is once against showing that he’s putting the special interests who fund his campaigns ahead of our Colorado values.

Iacino Disappointed as Tipton Votes Against Colorado’s Public Lands

October 31st, 2019, Montrose, CO. Today, James Iacino expressed disappointment after Scott Tipton once again decided to stand with the special interests who fund his campaigns instead of standing up for our Coloradan values when he voted against the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act. When enacted, the CORE Act would expand protections of important wild places in Western and Southern Colorado, including the Continental Divide, the San Juan Mountains, the Thompson Divide and Curecanti National Recreation Area. Not only are these areas crucial to Colorado’s outdoor heritage, they are critical to Western and Southern Colorado’s economy. Ensuring that these areas are protected for future generations will also continue to provide opportunity for local businesses to thrive.

During his tenure with Seattle Fish Company, James Iacino introduced industry-leading sustainability practices, knowing the impact that smartly managing our natural resources will have for our children and grandchildren. On Tipton’s most recent vote against Colorado’s natural resources, Iacino stated:

“Our public lands and wild places are not only central to our Colorado way of life, they’re critical drivers of the economy in Western and Southern Colorado. With this vote, D.C. politician Scott Tipton is once against showing that he’s putting the special interests who fund his campaigns ahead of our Colorado values.”

Scott Tipton has consistently voted against the preservation of public lands, and protecting our natural resources throughout his career, earning a lifetime rating of 7 (out of 100) with the League of Conservation voters, while he has taken over $560,000 from the oil and gas industry since entering Congress 8 years ago.
